Babylonians
1st
dynasty CA1900BCE to CA1530BCE
The Babylonian 1st dynasty reached the zenith of its power in the 17th century BCE. It's armies had overrun the kingdoms of Mari and Carcamish and went on to defeat the Egyptians CA1684BCE.
In these cases they followed their customary practice of appointing one of their own as ruler, but allowing the existing government to remain in power provided the people remained quiescent and paid the tribute imposed on the country.
This invasion is not referred to in the Bible because nothing changed for the governing Israelites except that they now turned the taxes they collected over to a Babylonian ruler instead of to an Egyptian ruler.
In the 16th century, Babylonian power began to wane and that of Hittites to increase culminating in the destruction of Babylon, their capital city, CA1530.
Exploiting the weakness, the Egyptians revolted and expelled their occupying army CA1536BCE.
