Conclusion
The Romans believed Jesus to be a rebel leader, they arrested him, they tried him, they sentenced him and they crucified him. The Jews played no part in the events leading to Jesus' death.
When God's plans required that Jesus should die on the cross the humans He used to fulfill His purpose were the Romans not the Jews.
